My name is Nusreen Moideen and before we go any further, let’s get one thing straight. I am not a writer or a food critic. I’ve never claimed to be either. This blog exists purely to share my love of food and particularly the restaurants I visit (there are many).
Although I have called them ‘restaurant reviews’ (for lack of a better word) they’re really just my experiences. I’m not claiming to be an expert, but I do have a lot of experience eating out over the last couple of years. I turn up, eat, take photos and write what I think. Simple.
I love all things food and love trying new restaurants. My favourites are Italian, Mexican, French, American Burgers and so on, the list is endless. I was born and raised in Dubai, moved to Muscat and have now mastered myself in all things food.
Through this blog, I aim to provide you with the best possible foodie advice on where to eat, where not to eat and what to eat. The inspiration to write this blog came from the need for a food critic that everyone can trust and relate to.
When young, I was always so excited when my dad said “Let’s go out for dinner tonight”. Those words were literally the best thing to hear after a long day of college, work and never ending studies (I was pursuing Chartered Accountancy course at that time, so you can imagine what I mean by never ending). That’s when I realised: I was in love with food 😉
I will be taking you on a journey through some food outlets and restaurants in Muscat as well as in Dubai, though the options in Muscat may be less as compared to the latter, but no matter where we are, there are countless exciting foods and exotic dishes to discover in every place. I am always in a mood to try something new, constantly hungry for a night out and ridiculously happy when eating my favourite dishes. I love eating and it’s best when a meal is shared in the company of family and friends.
I am also an “imperfect” mother of one tiny little princess named Aiza and wife to my ever-so-supportive-understanding husband. Regardless of being an elder child in the family, with siblings left on my watch from time to time while parents went for a night out, nothing could have prepared me for this rewarding, satisfying and yet difficult job that we call motherhood. I thought it was going to be as easy as a breeze, but alas… I was completely and utterly wrong.
Clearly, I am no expert on parenting, but would like to try to make the lives as moms just a little bit easier. All I want to do is encourage other moms and moms-to-be’s to be confident and do things the way you feel is right for your babies. There is no standards or prescribed way of raising your children, there’s just your way. Do not feel intimidated by other “know-it-alls” and their vast array of parenting advices that they decide to shower upon you. Remember that what worked on one may not work on another.
Nobody is perfect and definitely there’s no such thing as a perfect mother. Every one of us have had our own fumblings and at that moment we feel like the worst mother on earth…but it’s all a sign of how much we adore our babies and wants the best for them at all times.
Now, that’s enough about me, let’s begin the journey…… 🙂
