Why was I so late in finding out about this place??? Why????
It’s not everyday that you find a restaurant that meets all your highest expectations and you just want to go back there again and again. It took me so long to write this review after visiting here more than a month ago because I wanted to take my Hubsy there and try out more items on their menu before writing about them. But unfortunately, we did not get a chance for that when we visited Dubai last time due to all the family obligations that you just can’t seem to get away from.
Zaatar w Zeit is a casual Lebanese urban eatery founded in Lebanon in 1999. The branch we visited is located at the top floor near the Novo Cinemas in Festival City Mall.
Walked in here with my girl friends for a lunch date on a weekday. The restaurant design looked nothing special from the outside, just a simple and welcoming one. Wasn’t expecting to be that amazed and enchanted after lunch, but I was.
The staff was friendly and we placed our orders for the drinks (just water and Iced Tea), which came in only 5 mins later. I have tried Peach Iced Tea from many restaurants and most of them offered the canned ones which is not my thing. But here, they had the fresh ones and I kept sipping it until the very last drop.
A meal is not a meal without fries and cheese, hence that is exactly what we ordered as an appetiser, Fries & Cheese.
This was so yummy what with the melted cheese on the crispy fries making for a perfect start to a meal.
It was followed by the main course – a deliciously cheesy looking Chicken Tandoori Pizza and their Famous Chicken Wrap.
The pizza, according to our server, is probably their best pizza in the new items added to the menu. After our first bite, we could totally see why. The colorful looking pizza was a unique creation and it was impressively delicious.
Generously topped with tomato sauce, lots of cheese, chicken tandoori pieces and lots of chilly, this pizza is HEAVEN for spice lovers. If you love heat with your food, you’ve got to give this one a try. The crust is thin & crispy and can be easily devoured by one person alone.
From the looks of it, the wrap was toasted to perfection and presented in four halves for easy handling. After the flavoursome pizza, the wrap came out a slight bit bland but everyone at our table seemed to like it a lot, so I am guessing my tastebuds are just different.
For the desserts we had the Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse Cake, both of which came in plastic bowls and were simply amazing. Being a big fan of Tiramisu, I would say that Zaatar w Zeit’s tiramisu was one of the best ones I have had. But what was the icing on the cake was the Chocolate Mousse cake, we all loved it and couldn’t stop digging into it. It disappeared as soon as it came 😉
From the cleanliness to the service to the quality of food, Zaatar w Zeit displays each of those pillars and it’s a definite must-visit places in Dubai.
