Relying on the age old wisdom passed down from mother to daughter for generations and also through my small research into the breastfeeding topic have made me aware of the benefits of exclusively breastfeeding baby until six months old. It is known to improve baby’s immunity to diseases and infection, preventing allergies and overall health.
But breastfeeding may not be possible for all women based on their milk supply, lifestyle, and medical conditions. The decision to breastfeed or formula feed your baby is a personal choice and for mothers who are unable to breastfeed, formula is a good alternative.
Here’s a post on which two products helped me breastfeed my baby even when it seemed difficult in certain circumstances.
Medela Mini Electric BreastPump
The Medela Mini Electric breast pump is a good compact electric breast pump for mothers who occasionally express.
- It’s easy to put together, use and take apart to clean.
- There is a stand that comes with it which prevents the bottle from tipping over to one side.
- It can either be run on a small motor unit or battery which makes the pump easy to operate with one hand.
- There is also a dial on the side that controls the speed of the suction, which can be adjusted according to your preference.
- It can easily be transported around by tossing into your handbag if need be.
The only issue I found with this was that the battery option was not working as efficiently as opposed to when it is connected to the power supply, hence always had to find a power outlet to connect it to.
I used to carry the expressed milk bottle in my bag and just give it to my baby as and when she demands. Since I am not a working mom and only needs to express milk during those outings or situations when leaving baby at home, this product was a perfect partner for me.
I haven’t used any other brands of pumps, but I would recommend this for those mothers who still want to feed breast milk to their baby even though you might be in a place where it seems difficult.
This is another one of those products that are a God-sent for mothers who wish to breastfeed while in public. Sometimes when I don’t get a chance to express milk, I just toss this babe in my handbag and take it out to put around me when my little girl needs to feed. This saves you time and energy in finding a spot or private room to feed while you are in the middle of dinner or else where. These awesome breastfeeding covers (also known as nursing wrap or shawl) comes in different patterns, colours and designs and help maintain your privacy in public areas.
Unfortunately for me, my baby doesn’t like being covered up while feeding, and hence did not get a chance to utilise this product’s money’s worth. They can be really useful if you have an older baby who is easily distracted by their surroundings when feeding.
Hope this post was helpful you all. Until next time, Happy Motherhood!
